If you're considering eyelid surgeryEyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a procedure to remove skin from the upper or lower lid and sometimes extra fat to rejuvenate and give you a fresher more alert appearance. Eyelid surgery will not remove crow's feet, eliminate dark circles under eyes, or lift eyebrows. Blepharoplasty can be done alone, or in conjunction with other facial surgery procedures such as a face lift or brow lift.
Are you a candidate for eyelid surgery? The best candidates for eyelid surgery are men and women who are healthy. Most are 35 or older, but if droopy or baggy eyelids are a family trait, one may decide to have eyelid surgery at a younger age. A few medical conditions make blepharoplasty riskier. They include thyroid problems such as Graves' disease, dry eye or lack of sufficient tears, high blood pressure or other circulatory disorders, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.
Planning your consultationIn your initial consultation, Dr. Hosn will spend the time you need to define your goals, perform a complete examination and make recommendations pertaining to possible surgical procedures that may benefit you. Our office is committed to educating you on the procedure as well as the risks, benefits, and alternatives. The typical patient will meet with Dr. Hosn two times before eyelid surgery in an effort to achieve a beautiful result performed as safely as possible.
